Tips for Making a Comfortable Living from Home

As a mom, I wanted to try and find a career path that would allow me to work from home. I would be able to care for my children and still be able to provide a stream of income for my family. My career of choice is a painter. I love to paint, so I channeled my favorite pastime into a career that I love. Below are a few tips on how you can do what you love for a living.

Consider Work at Home Ideas
To get started, consider what you enjoy doing. For me it is painting. I have been able to create a career as a painter, offering custom paintings for my clients, painting homes, even during murals in children’s bedrooms. What do you enjoy doing? If you like shopping, perhaps you could become a personal shopper for the elderly or busy individuals. If you like to write, you could become a blogger or take on clients who need articles or reviews. Start by writing down everything you enjoy doing and how you might could turn that into a career. Brain storm your ideas to see which might be the best option.

Starting Your New Career Path
Once you have decided on an idea, write down what you need to get started. For me, I started by offering simple services like painting rooms in a home. Once I had built a client base, I was able to do more work by offering additional services such as painting trim, creating murals and custom art pieces. You have to start small to be able to build up a strong client base, individuals who will refer you and help your business to grow.

Don’t Be Afraid To Take the Plunge
Changing career paths can be scary. When I had my children, I knew that I wanted to be home with them. So, I not only created a new career, but also had to learn how to live differently. When you work from home, the income can be fleeting. You may have busy times and not so busy times. Be willing to start your business but also know that you will have times when income will be small. Learn how to budget your business so that you can enjoy what you do and also be able to be your own boss.

With a little planning and know-how, you can create your own business and comfortably make a living while working from home.
